I Wish It So
03:40
|
|
||
I've an unrest inside me
Oh, it's long I have had such an unrest inside me
And it's gettin' real bad
I'm sleepin' at night
And my heart beats so loud that I wake
All dizzy and light with the dreamin' and feelin this ache
Such a thumpin' inside me
That I think I'll go mad
For I wish it so!
What I wish I still don't know
But it's bound to come
Though so long to wait
I keep saying "Tonight!"
Or "Today!" through the endless days
And my heart clamors and prays
It will not come too late
But when come it does
In the shape of love or life
I will give my life
And my love, I know
I've such grand aims
With so many names
That I grow numb
But sure one is bound to come
Because I wish, I wish it so
It's the unrest inside me...

A Cockeyed Optimist
01:27
|
|
||
When the sky is a bright canary yellow
I forget every cloud I've ever seen,
So they called me a cockeyed optimist
Immature and incurably green.
I have heard people rant and rave and bellow
That we're done and we might as well be dead,
But I'm only a cockeyed optimist
And I can't get it into my head.
I hear the human race
Is falling on its face
And hasn't very far to go,
But ev'ry whippoorwill
Is selling' me a bill,
And telling me it just ain't so.
I could say life is just a bowl of Jello
And appear more intelligent and smart,
But I'm stuck like a dope
With a thing called hope,
And I can't get it out of my heart!
Not this heart…

Spring Medley

|
|

January and February were never so empty and grey.
Tragically I feel like crying without you my darling, I’m dying.
But let’s rather put it this way:
Spring will be a little late this year
A little late arriving in my lonely world over here
For you have left me and where is our April [Incomprehensible] old?
You have left me and winter continues cold
As if to say spring will be a little slow to start
A little slow reviving that music it made in my heart
Yes, time heals all things so I needn't cling to this fear
It's merely that spring will be a little late this year
Spring will be a little late this year
A little slow reviving that music it made in my heart
Yes, time heals all things so I needn't cling to this fear
It's merely that spring will be a little late, a little late this year
The things I used to like, I don’t like anymore
I want a lot of other things I’ve never had before.
It’s just like Mother says: I sit around and mope.
Pretending I am wonderful, and knowing I’m a dope.
I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm, I'm as jumpy as puppet on a string
I'd say that I had spring fever, but I know it isn't spring
I am starry eyed and vaguely discontented, like a nightingale without a song to sing
O why should I have spring fever, when it isn't even spring
I keep wishing I were someone else, walking down a strange new street
And hearing words that I've never heard from a girl I've yet to meet
I'm as busy as spider spinning daydreams, spinning spinning daydreams
I'm as giddy as a baby on a swing
I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud, or a robin on the wing
But I feel so gay in a melancholy way, that it might as well be spring
It might as well be spring.

Hey buds below ... up is where to grow
Up with which below can't compare with.
Hurry - it's lovely up here …
Life down a hole takes an awful toll,
What with not a soul there to share with
Hurry - it's lovely up here!
Wake up, bestir yourself, it's time that you disinter yourself
You've got a spot to fill - a pot to fill
And what a gift package of showers, sun and love
You'll be met above everywhere with,
Fondled and sniffed by millions who drift by,
Life here is rosy - if you're a posy
Hurry it's lovely here!
Hey rhododend! Courage, little friend.
Everything’ll end rhodo-dandy.
Hurry - it's lovely up here …
Bloom, buttercup! Buds are better up
Where in case of nuptials you’re handy.
Hurry - it's lovely up here …
Climb up geranium, it can't be fun subterran-ium
On the exterior, it's cheerier!
RSVP peonies, pollinate the breeze,
Make the queen of bees hot as brandy
Come give at least a preview of East-ah!!
Come up and see the hoot we're giving
Come up and see the grounds for living
Come poke your head out,
Open up and spread out,
Hurry it's lovely here!

My Favorite Things
02:30
|
|
||
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so...
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel
Then I don’t feel
Then I don’t feel
Then I don’t feel - so - bad
Then I don’t feel so bad

I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
Christmas eve will find me
Where the love light gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an errant man
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, you would be closer
You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
I don't care how you get here
If only in my dreams.

Winter Was Warm
03:27
|
|
||
Winter was warm, summer soft that year
The winter was warm without a sign of frost
Like winter lost its way that year
It seems as I recall
No blossoms fell that fall
May didn't leave at all
Or did love paint an illusion?
Now trees with a sigh stand and shiver
While their dreams fall and die, and all my dreams are there
Wrapped up somewhere in summer leaves
Oh, what I'd give to be
To be in love again
This year the winter is cold
Will it ever be warm as it was then?
It seems as I recall
No blossoms fell that fall
May didn't leave at all
Or did love paint an illusion?
Now trees with a sigh stand and shiver
While their dreams fall and die, and all my dreams are there
Wrapped up somewhere in summer leaves
Oh, what I'd give to be
To be in love again
This year the winter is cold
Will it ever be warm as it was then?

Snow is snowing. Wind it is blowing
I can weather the storm
What do I care how much it may storm
Got my love to keep me warm
Can’t remember, worst December
Watch those icicles form
What do I care if icicles form
Got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat off with my gloves
Who needs an overcoat I'm burning with love
Heart's on fire. Flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm
What do I care how much it may storm
I've got my love to keep me warm.
What do I care if icicles form
Got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat off with my gloves
Who needs an overcoat I'm burning with love
Heart's on fire. Flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm
What do I care how much it may storm
I've got my love to keep me warm.

If music is no longer lovely,
If laughter is no longer lilting,
If lovers are no longer loving,
Then I don't want to know.
If summer is no longer carefree,
If children are no longer singing,
If people are no longer happy,
Then I don't want to know.
Let me hide ev'ry truth from my eyes with the back of my hand,
Let me live in a world full of lies with my head in the sand.
For my memories all are exciting.
My memories all are enchanted,
My memories burn in my head with a steady glow;
So if, my friends, if love is dead,
I don't want to know.
Interlude
If music is no longer lovely,
Then I don't want to know.
If children are no longer singing,
Then I don't want to know.
Let me hide ev'ry truth from my eyes with the back of my hand,
Let me live in a world full of lies with my head in the sand.
Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Hasn't snowed a single flurry, but Santa dear we're in a hurry
Climb down the chimney
Put up the brightest string of lights I’ve ever seen
Slice up the fruit cake
It's time we've hung some tinsel on the evergreen bough
For we need a little music
Need a little laughter
Need a little singing, ringing through the rafter
And we need a little snappy
Happy ever after
Need a little Christmas
The best of times is now,
What's left of summer but a faded rose!
The best of times is now,
As for tomorrow, well who knows, who knows!
So hold this moment fast
And live and love as hard as you know how
And make this moment last
Because the best of times is now, is now.
We need a little Christmas now

This Moment

This moment
Perfect golden
Grasp it, see it
This moment
Laughing happy
Feel it, be it
Curve of face Warmth of hands Butterfly
Pin in place when it lands. Try, tr..y
This moment
Ripened bursting
Taste it, name it
This moment
precious fleeting
catch it frame it
Curve of moon warmth of air willow bough
Winter soon be aware now how
This sadness aching reaching looking on
At this moment present distant
shining bubble touch it lose it
Happy laughing perfect golden
Gone.

New World Coming
03:19
|
|
||
There's a new world coming, and it's just around the bend.
There's a new world coming. This one's coming to an end.
There's a new voice calling, you can hear it if you try.
And it’s growing stronger with each day that passes by.
There's a brand new morning, rising clear and sweet and free.
There's a new day dawning, that belongs to you and me.
Yes, a new world's coming, the one we've had visions of
Coming in peace, coming in joy, coming in love.
Coming in peace, coming in joy, coming in love.
Coming in love, coming in love.

There's Always Tomorrow
01:55
|
|
||
There's always tomorrow, for dreams to come true
Believe in your dreams come what may
There's always tomorrow with so much to do
And so little time in a day
We all pretend the rainbow has an end
And you'll be there my friend someday
There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true
Tomorrow is not far away
We all pretend the rainbow has an end
And you'll be there my friend someday
There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true
Tomorrow is not far away
